Yoga Life

learning to breathe new life through pain

Yoga became my miracle healer. In the beginning, after those classes with my physiotherapist, I picked a single stretch and did it every day. It felt so good to do a lunge on the stairs with both sides, my psoas was p(so)as(s) tight!

It felt so good, that I learned more on my own at home, and eventually took the plunge on a new multi-million dollar facility that had opened up in my city. There, they offered hot infrared yoga (with oxygen), wall inversion yoga, hammock yoga with a biologist who used essential oil and singing bowls to heal us, a crystal sound bath class, meditation classes and weekly live music immersive class. I got to experience so many types of yoga there. So much healing took place in that building for me and so many others.

Learning to lean into and breathe deeply THROUGH pain was a beautiful leaf to turn. Once I was able to stretch through the breadth of my injury I was able to attend strengthening classes. Ashtanga became a daily ritual. Suddenly I found myself showering before and after it, then popping into a yin and flow class and of course another shower. On my birthday for 2 or 3 years in a row I woke up happily at 5am to be there for 6am morning meditation to start the day off right. I went to so much yoga that my partner at the time constantly accused me of cheating and would yell at me that nobody goes to that much yoga… Don’t worry I am no longer with them! haha. Respect my journey or BACK DOWN.

We were blessed with the best teachers at that place (Covid killed it, RIP). I will forever be grateful for the very many amazing teachers there. Especially the one who is truly resting peacefully <3 Forever in my heart. Yoga is life.
