Quitting Cigarettes for pain relief

The Jackie Chan Tobacco Strikes Back poster by the CDC was there for me during my year long endeavor to quit smoking.

I also found the chart with the heavy metals by the CDC helpful to look at while I was quitting.

I really wanted to get out of pain. I had read some study that found smokers experienced a marginal increase in pain over nonsmokers. I had read so much information and written it onto a big colorful poster paper I was looking at. I had used subliminal messaging to quit smoking previously, and I was determined to quit smoking again.

I smoked cigarettes for an intermittent total of 10 years and tried more than 10 times to quit. How to Quit Smoking the Easy Way was basically subliminal messaging, so those audiobooks were helpful for rewiring my thoughts during a previous attempt.

I also tried the patch and found the step 3 patch at 7mg/day was closest to my 8-10 cigarettes and could keep me at 3 while I developed better habits. When I felt ready I eventually weened down to 1 every day. In the end I smoked that 1 in 3 sessions. It took months of that titration to get to nothing.

I worked so hard for that so I know will never become a cigarette smoker ever again in my life… Because I never want to go through that struggle again. There have been times where I struggled with starting again, but I kept my resolve to not allow it to progress. To fight it tooth and nail, not to succumb. Overcome your struggles in life, no matter what they are!
